Lazy Cottage

On the edge of the Lake District National Park in the beautiful unspoilt West Coast of Cumbria.

About Lazy Cottage

This is an ideal base for parents with children of all ages, a clean sandy gently sloping beach is perfect for toddlers and a brilliant playground suitable from toddler-teens is right next to the beach along with a beach café serving excellent breakfasts and snacks throughout the day. For older children there are water sports (at the local marina – water-skiing lessons available); an indoor heated swimming pool and pony-trekking centre all close by.

Walking parties are equally well catered for with excellent walks such as the nearby Black Combe, Duddon Valley, Eskdale, the Old Man of Coniston and the Langdale Fells all within easy reach.

Drive for an hour and the rest of the Lake District is open to you (Windermere, Bowness, Wastwater, Whitehaven). The area abounds in history; with interesting places to visit including Muncaster Castle (perfect for when the weather isn’t brilliant).

Ravensglass & Eskdale steam railway (kids of all ages love this and at the end of the trip there is a beautiful picnic spot and walks up to the Stanley Ghyll Force); Broughton-in-Furness a lovely village to visit for a walk around before lunch or dinner; South Lakes Wild Animal Park and the village of Hawkshead (home of Beatrix Potter) all make excellent day trips.

There are many nature reserves easily accessible to visit including St.Bees Head, Bassenthwaite and Walney.  Shops and pub are close by, with the nearest restaurant only 75 yards and ‘L'enclume’ a Michelin star restaurant a 30 minute drive.  In the next town is a large supermarket.
